Area Police
Roughly 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Police state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then discovered multiple other marked cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests show the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; officials are currently not aware of any injuries in relation with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have requested to the residents for information.
A high-ranking official said the vandalism left him stunned and had to be addressed quickly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on residents of migrant background in 2020.
